In cooperation with the Educational Promotion Fund of Vietnam, VND5 billion will be financed to 35 colleges nationwide in 5 years to support needy students doing well in school for their further education and development.

 

Aug. 23, 2011 – Today, Vietnamobile’s mobile communication center inked a Partnership deal with the Educational Promotion Fund of Vietnam to jointly launch the VND5 billion Scholarship program “Light up schooling dream” for needy students with excellent studying results nationwide to help them better pursue their learning goals and make meaningful contribution to the country in the future. The scholarship will be awarded to selected students in five consecutive years, starting with those who passed the 2011 entrance exams and continuing till 2015, to make sure that they successfully work their way through college without a financial hassle.

As part of the initiative, in cooperation with the Educational Promotion Fund of Vietnam, Vietnamobile will grant 500 scholarships worth VND2 million each every year for students who are qualified for the specific criteria. The funds will be granted right from the freshman year and continue until the students graduate, providing that good or excellent schooling grades are maintained for all the years. Otherwise, the students will not be entitled for the scholarship in the following years. This will give them the momentum to keep up the good work throughout the years.

Addressing the launch event, Ms. Elizabete Fong, Vietnamobile’s Chief Executive said: “Assisting and promoting Vietnamese young talents is one of the most important social goals that Vietnamobile has been pursuing ever since we started business here. Consecutively in September and October 2009, Vietnamobile entered into 5-year partnership deals with 06 colleges nationwide for awards of scholarships worth VND 210 million. In 2010, in collaboration with the Central Committee of Vietnam Youth Union, Vietnamobile granted scholarships and launched various events welcoming the new academic year for students of 20 colleges across the country for an amount of nearly one billion VND. The inauguration of the “Light up schooling dream” Fund, in partnership with the Educational Promotion Fund of Vietnam, marks yet another step forward in Vietnamobile’s community development work toward provision of comprehensive support to students.”

We highly appreciate Vietnamobile for various support initiatives and regular interest in educational development in general and the development of high quality human resources in Vietnam in the future. I believe that the students awarded the scholarship this time, young talents of the future, will play a significant role in the evolvement of the country.”
